Little Something Something

Heya guys,

Sorry about not posting last week, I had no internet! But that has been remedied and I'll be posting regularly again, as well as occasionally posting things like this!

Never been much of a drawer (not for lack of effort mind you!) So I've decided that I'm going to learn to draw. Hopefully I'll get good enough to start doing frequent comics and junk.

Pssst

Hey guys,

This is Lukos here. Typhoon is probably gonna yell at me for this or something, but I want to take a moment out of your day to give you a little nudge towards something awesome. Warning: shameless advertising ahead!
So, you guys have seen my art on this blog and I really hope that you guys think it's cool and that you want to see more. Well, if you do then you're in luck. I just opened up an ask account on Tumblr and if you have an account then I'd be much obliged if you popped over there and took a look at it. Reblog something, ask a question if you have the time. Every little bit will go towards making me a happy camper.

Those pictures up there are just a little sample of the kind of work I hope to do on the blog, so go check it out. Someday it might even be big enough to binge on, but I need your help for that ;3

This is ArchiosLukos,

The Ancient Avatars

Long ago during the first reign of man there existed special humans, who had, via luck, breeding, or gene therapy, gained abilities that transcended the law of reality itself. In their times they were known as Avatars, the descendants of gods.

Being considered the highest of their species each was placed into a biopod when the cataclysm struck ending the first empire. All though the majority of these pods have been lost and their carefully selected cargo long dead, several thousand have managed to make it into present time.

      Character Creation
Avatars are powerful individuals who are often respected instantly due to their abilities. Even the weakest of avatars posses the potential to kill hundreds if not treated with care. For the use of the military avatars have been split into three types.

      Psychokinetic
For a psychokinetic controlling the world around them is done simply with a thought. It takes them a large amount of time to hone their abilities, but once they've taken the time they are often extremely powerful. The observed psychokinetic powers are:

Power Description
Telekinesis The weakest of the psychokinetic powers, with some of the highest versatility. In it's simplest it is the ability to exert a force upon an object. This force can be shaped differently depending on the persons training. For the most part due to it's ease of use a person doesn't gain beyond entry levels skills with it.
Pyrokinesis The use of pyrokinesis can control, produce, and even enhance fire. Users of this ability need to observe caution as they often cause damage to themselves and others trying to control this unpredictable element.
Terrakinesis The ability to control the earth in forms such as rock and sand. User has a large amount of difficulty controlling refined materials such as metals.
Hydrokinesis A powerful and easy to use ability, the use is able to control and manipulate water to their will. Skilled users can even manage to control living creatures using the water inside of their bodies.
Aerokinesis Extremely powerful and potentially one of the more dangerous of the powers. The wielder of aerokinesis controls the very air around them giving them a weapon is almost all situations. Weak users can be confused for telekinesis users if not studied hard enough.
Electrokinesis First of the tier 2 psychokinetics, this ability allows the user to control and generate electricity around them. Many after training can willfully launch lightning.
Photokinesis Masters of many things, namely stealth, and pure destruction. A photokinetic controls light itself for an array of effects from turning themselves invisible to creating powerful lasers.
Biokinesis A terrifying ability in even the hands of someone who isn't trained. Those with biokinesis are able to alter life itself mutating and controlling the bodies of others to their whims.
Cyberkinesis A stranger ability that is oddly specific, the user is able to control all forms of electronics. This allows them to do many things such as have many drones patrolling or attacking those around them.
Tychokinesis Easy the most powerful of all skills with a double edge to it. Tychokinesis allows the user to warp reality by controlling probability, from a coin flip to natural bullet spread. The user can control seemingly everything in this way by nudging the tables of chance. The draw back is that depression could turn their powers against themselves.

     Telepathic
Telepaths live within their own, and other minds. They deal with thoughts and feelings above all else. Of the three types they could be said to be the least 'real'.Standard telepathic abilities are:

Power Description
Telempathy Simple and the most common of this type. It is simply the ability to sense the emotions of others, you know that they are hiding the fact they are jealous, or angry. You just know.
Psychic Communication The ability to speak and listen to people through thought. Higher skill user can even force people to listen.
Audible Inundation The ability to create figment sounds in a persons head. It can be soft or loud and only the target or targets can hear it.
Sensory Scrying The ability to link into another senses and experience the world with them. Such as using someone else's eyes to see a hidden passage.
Pain Inducement The telepath can cause anguish to a person via their mind. Often this form of pain cannot be resisted, and the victim can be left unable to adapt.
Telepathic Prediction Also know as clairvoyance, they can see the future and make actions based on it. A skilled user can use this to predict peoples actions and movements in real time as to aid their own reflexes.
Emotion Manipulation First of the tier 2 telepath abilities. This telepath is able to control the feelings of other in a range of ways from small to large. This can be used for both combat and in a utilitarian sense to help people.
Thought Manipulation The end all of telepath abilities only not place at the highest due to a small margin. The user can completely control another's thoughts, and therefore their actions.
Consciousness Transferal The ultimate in stealth in many ways, the user can move their mind freely from body to body. Especially dangerous if they move to a kinesthetic.
Neurocognitive Deficit The top tier due to it extreme combat edge. The user can overload the minds of other using a form of psychic scream. This overloading stops all thoughts and can even instantly kill.

     Kinesthetic
In a sense these are among the strongest on base due to the lack of a learning curve for most of their abilities. A kinesthetic focuses on their body instead of turning to the outside world. They are mostly limited to what they can touch, or in some cases launch themselves. Common traits include:

Power Description
Elasticity The ability for one to stretch and contort their body unnaturally, such as their arm being pulled two meters, or them being able to squeeze themselves through very tight spaces.
Poison Generation Come in a variety of ways, from their spit to their very skin these people produce toxins that are harmful to life.
Dermal Armor The users skin has hardened into a form of armor giving them high damage resistance.
Enhanced Condition This person is in all most every way shape and form superior to a human being. They can run faster, think faster, lift more, and take more. Though less then other abilities of the type they make up for it with versatility.
Regenerative Healing Factor As the name suggest a person with this heals supernaturally fast being able to recover from bullet wounds in mere seconds.
Bone Generation The ability to create bone from ones body, this can be used in a variety of ways from making armor, to increasing bone density for added support.
Weight Manipulation By changing the density of their body they are able to control their weight. At one moment they can be light as a feather, and in the next weigh several tons.
Shapeshifting A shapeshifter has no real shape, they assume the form of whatever suits them. This allows them to adapt to almost any situation.
Bio-Electric Aura The ultimate defense the person has a second skin of sorts that acts as a shield from all forms of harm. Though the strength varies, it can be easily capable of taking a nuclear bomb, with the proper training.
Immortality Clean and simple, you don't have to overpower, outrun, out-think others, you only need to survive. This is what an immortal does, they can suffer, they can be tormented infinitely but they'll never die.

That's about all I have for now, later on I'm going to stat this all out for a d20 system, so stay tuned!

Robin Williams is Dead

Hey guys, this is ArchiosLukos.

I know that some of you may not know who Robin Williams is, either from not living in America or just being unable to match name with face. He is the genie from Disney’s Aladdin, Peter Pan from Hook, and Misses Doubtfire from a movie of the same name among countless other dramas, comedies, and the like. He is a renowned actor who started as a stand up comedian and he has won many awards for his work.

Today, Monday August 11, he is presumed to have committed suicide.

I personally grew up on movies that he starred in, Jumanji being my first I believe. I won’t say that I’m stricken or sobbing over it, but it is extremely depressing. I wanted you guys to know so that you’re not in the dark. There are very few articles out at the moment, but here are a few:

Tidbit of writing

Just a little something. I've been feeling sick so I'll more content a little later in the week, and hopefully I'll finish this first chapter.

Holland squirmed in his chair trying to sate his intense boredom. He disliked group therapy, he saw it as a waste of his effort, and more importantly his time. Week after week he was forced to show up to listen to people talk about their lives and somehow think that just talking would end up magically fixing themselves. Of course it didn’t work like that, he knew it, they hopefully knew it, but some of them, like him, had been coming here for years without any sign of progress. Though everyone in the group other than him, was there voluntarily. “I watched my two best friend in the world die that day… and it was my fault” a current speaker finished his story of his tour in Korea. Holland couldn’t contain himself any longer and let out a loud sigh. Dr. Feildgrass took notice and chastised him a slight bit saying “You know, if you’d share your story you might understand how rude it is to act that way towards another person's struggles.”

Holland didn’t understand the doctor, or these people, none of them knew why he was here and if he had his say in the matter none of them would ever know his story.Carefully he evaded the question with a half-insult to everyone else “And what miss all of the sob stories for a change, I’ll pass.” This upset the people around him, and the doctor. Luckily he would have another week until he’d have to hear from any of these people again. He stood up only to find himself forced back down suddenly by a newer member to the group. His name was Alan Drake, an ex-marine, hot headed, and messed up after the things he’d been through.

Kateline, the Angel

When Katie walked up on the stage, all attention was on her. The dull roar of the room suddenly hushed ash she looked over the crowd. After she was sure there were no stragglers coming in late, she began talking. " Welcome to the Renegade Army Recruitment Ceremony! I'm One of the leaders, and one of the creators of this army, Katieline." She paused "Before we officially start, We have some news from two of our allied armies, The Herobrine army and The Ender army. Now before and of you New recruits get uneasy, I'll tell you this much, No we are not an 'evil' army, " she maid air quotes but resisted the urge to roll her eyes "And no, Herobrine is not going to kill you. I'll make sure of that." there were a few nervous laughs from the crowd. "The Ambassador of the Ender Army will present first..."

Insan, Spirit of Chaos

She hovered upside down on the ceiling, watching the girl lazily in her shadow form. She reached out slowly, drawing all of the fingers of her right hand but her pointer and thumb into her palm. 'bang' dead. She rotated slowly in a circle, 'laying back' against the top of the room 'bang' 'bang' she smiled. The girl was far too concentrated for her own good. Insan flexed her transparent shadowy hand, admiring it. Hmm. She really did need a new body soon. Perhaps... Something more divine? She smirked, staring at the angel below her with something resembling affection. She had better watch those pretty little wings of hers. As Katie left, Insan billowed down to the floor and collected herself there. With a silky swipe of her fingers, the light sources were blacked out. Maybe she could to just a little bit of hunting.

No Review Today, Instead a Little Something

Hello everyone as the title says there isn't a review today, but that doesn't mean that I've forgotten about you all. Today I'll talk about a game that I've started to play, and I'll do a review on it a little later.

The game is Gunz 2: The Second Duel, and for those who aren't aware it's an MMO. For those who are still unaware it's based on the original Ijji game, Gunz. Now I started playing it because a friend of mine convinced me to, against my better judgement and I found that I was pleasantly surprised. The game wasn't as bad as I thought.

The original game wasn't too bad to be honest but it had a huge problem known as K-style which was a glitch with the blocking system that allowed for some pretty crazy tendinitis inducing game play. My real issue with this is that the original game was as much about guns as 3rd century bar brawl.

The new game has improved on this by fixing the glitch and trying to build a new and interesting system that doens't have to rely on it.

All in all it's looking good for now, but isn't worth putting any money into.

Anime Review - Toaru Majutsu No Index

Toaru Majutsu No Index

Hello everybody, Typhoon LordGrief here with another anime review. Today as you can tell from the title I'm going to be reviewing Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index).

Synopsis

Academy city population 2.3 million, what makes it unique is that 80% of the population consist of students. It is the focal points of multiple high education programs/centers. Within this city there reside special humans who are known as Espers, Espers are people who have gained a supernatural ability either naturally or via a mixture of drugs and sense alteration. This city is known as the city of science and it is home to many powerful individuals.

Within this city there is a young man named Touma. He is a high school student who is thought to have absolutely no abilities, what makes him remarkable is that his right hand is capable of canceling all other esper abilities on touch. This is made apparent from the very first episode when he is shown being able to fight against the third most powerful person in the city without receiving any harm. One day he opens up his window to find a girl in white hold trimmed robes passed out on the rail to his balcony. He discovers her name is Index, and that she is in possession of 103,000 grimoires ( powerful magic manuals, EX. Necronomicon). She also tell him that she is being chased by powerful magicians who aim to steal her knowledge and use it to change or destroy the very world.

From this moment on Touma is plunged into a world of magic, science, and religion. His only goal is to protect Index and everyone from the suffering that is constantly around them.

Story [ 6 / 10 ]
The story is good and is paced well enough, it's often disjointed but that's mostly because they don't give too much exposition (which is a good thing!). The setting to the story is rather rich and I find myself drawn in by my curiosity. Sadly the story has to lose several points due to a problem that a lot of animes have. NOBODY DIES! I'm sure that's a huge spoiler but it's actually really frustrating to me when an anime has a perfect moment where if a character died it would have a genuine impact on both the characters and the watcher. Instead it ruins those moments by having the character live on. Heck, I'd even take thinking the character is dead for an episode or two but it doesn't even wait that long to reveal that, what a surprise, they lived.

As a side note the story goes over a lot of the science vs religion aspects which I don't mind that much but are overplayed in real life let alone in anime.

Art [ 9 / 10 ]
This is where I feel the show really picks up from a lot of animes I watch. They have good shading and good animation for the characters. They don't overkill it with an acid wash technicolour and for that I thank them. I found the art to be extremely appealing, though it's not the absolute best.

Sound [ 3 / 10 ]
The music sadly doesn't stand out too much to me. It does it's job whenever it needs to and it fits the moment correctly but it isn't something that I'd associate with the anime.

Character [ 5 / 10 ]
This is where the show gets hit or miss. The main character has to have a rigid personality though he actual does start to develop after two seasons. The full main cast of character are good although some of them are annoying. It's one of those animes where I felt much more connection and development from the support cast and the side characters. The villains are fairly blank slates, and bothered me due to the fact that all except for maybe two of them had some dark past that made them hate science or whatever at the given time.

Enjoyment [ 10 / 10]
I vastly enjoyed this anime, I liked it so much I shotgunned the two seasons and even watched the DVD specials. It is really fun to watch but it can get tiring to hear the main character give speeches on morality even if they are good speeches. The characters are pretty awesome to watch in motion and the story is fun to watch as well. What really got me was how rich the setting was from the Church of England, to the Academy city the writer had it down and for me lore does a long way into making something interesting and enjoyable.

Overall [ 6.6 / 10 ]
Nothing much else that I can say. Really I liked it and that's all that matters to me. It's a good anime and even though it has it's flaws it manages to make up for them in ways that don't make me want to put my fist through my monitor. Check it out.

Astermio

Astermio
A traveling herbalist and magician. He stops by the tavern on occasion as he passes through and his arrival is often heralded with much excitement, whether that is that people hate him or are anxious to see the wares he's collected on his travels and use his services.

Elliot and Damon

Elliot and Damon
Two regulars of the Acronical Tavern. They are master and student. Each night, Elliot travels up from the ranch house down the road and meets Damon in the inn. Sometimes they train out back next to the pigs, but mostly it's just sitting by the bar and listening to old war stories and having a meal. Nobody knows exactly who Damon is, but it's rumored that he's a retired warrior from the Southern wolf tribes and that he himself is a werewolf due to his usual absence around the full moon.

Anime Review - To Love-Ru

Hello everybody! Today I am going to be reviewing an anime known as To Love-Ru. For those who dislike spoilers I am going to straight up say this. There might very well be spoilers in this, for those who don’t know what To Love-Ru is about just sit down and I’ll tell you. For this article I’ll be reviewing the first season of three.

To Love-Ru

To Love-Ru is an anime that aired in 2006, the story revolves around the nonsensical life of Yuuki Rito. This is not a series to be taken completely seriously and indeed it doesn't put forward the idea that you should. It is strange, has tons of fan service, and is overall light hearted. For a drinking game you should take a shot every time there is fanservice in the series. You’ll be dead before you leave the opening song.

Synopsis
Rito Yuuki, an average football playing teenage boy has problems with women. He gets so shy when trying to talk to them that he freezes up and ends up in a pool of his own sweat. He has found himself in love with a classmate named Haruna Seiranji, but every time that he tries to confess his love something happens to stop him, from a pot knocking him out to being ran over by elephants.

That is until one day while trying to confess a space ship crashes into the front terrace of their high school almost hitting Rito and ruining this confession attempt. Later that night while taking a bath a strange light comes from his tub and a naked woman appears before him, his hands cusped on her chest. This woman turns out to be Lala the princess of Deviluke a warlike space faring race that is known for their cruelty and military might. Now before you go thinking this is another premise for one of my fanfiction please not that all forms nudity are purely softcore and nothing more (even if there is tension building).

After that he finds out that via groping her, and later telling her that he loves her while looking her in the eye. (Another failed confession to Sairenji, I need to make this quick) That he has proposed to her and is to be the next king of Deviluke, if he can survive the crazy antics caused by the strange space princess Lala.

That’s the basic plot of the show, there are other details but you’ll just have to watch the show yourself to see them.

Now onto the actual review process.

Story [ 3 / 10 ]
The story is interesting enough but it isn’t the main focus of the anime. Though I found myself interested in what would happen it was still your standard harem, weak male protagonist anime. You can generally guess the way the plot will go from looking at the tags that describe this anime. I will note that the beginning did throw me off into thinking this was going to be much more serious than it really was.

Art [ 7.5 / 10 ]
The woman look fantastic and you might need tissues for certain scenes. Aside from that the anime had the nostalgic feel with it’s drawing. It isn’t hyper stylized like newer animes (which I consider better), but it isn’t trying to be super detailed either. For the time it’s about the average style that you got whenever you watched anime and I  personally like it.

Sound [ 3 / 10 ]
Really I cannot even remember much of the music in this show (perhaps I was too busy staring at the fanservice). But I can say that it didn’t really have a unique sound feel to it. The sound matched the scenes but I wouldn’t be able to tell it’s music out of a crowd. It’s no Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo but it’s ok.

Character [ 3 / 10 ]
As likable as the characters are, I find most of them to be really shallow and two-dimensional. Honestly they each play their role but there is not a whole lot of development, whenever it seems like there might be it turns about to be temporary at best. Lala is the fun oblivious genius, Haruna is the romantic interest, Zastin is the white knight… you get the point. They each fill their roles nicely but don’t expect them to develop beyond them.

Enjoyment [ 10 / 10 ]
The show is genuinely enjoyable to watch, it’s light hearted with sprinkles of tension placed around to make it more interesting. It’s silly and funny with many interesting but random events that keep it fun to watch. The amount of fanservice was not at all annoying as it can get in many other animes (I’m looking at you Seikon no Qwaser) and it made sure to not even take itself seriously so that I wouldn’t get the wrong impression on why I was watching it.

Overall [  5.3 / 10 ]
Don’t let this overall speak for the series itself, there are several things wrong for it but I still consider it to be a worthwhile watch. I did not at all feel robbed of time from my experience with it and I went on to watch the two next seasons and all of the OVA’s. I will say that if you are the kind of person that is looking for a serious anime to sit down and scowl at for twelve hours then it is not for you. But if you are a person looking for an anime to help lighten you up after having suffered from a serious and heart wrenching show then it might be the cure for you. It’s not perfect, but as long as you don’t expect it to be this glorious masterpiece then you’ll probably enjoy it.

Endiar

Endiar
An inhabitant of the Acronical Tavern. He is usually seen wandering the grounds just outside the tavern but no traveler dare approach him because he is scary as shit sings a low song that buzzes in their ears and sets their hairs on end. It tells of death and the end of all things. Haha, but no. He just makes sure drunk adventurers aren't off turning into werewolves and/or murdering people out back of the tavern. That sort of thing brings bad publicity. As for the songs, they're really catchy and it gets boring just walking around in the dark.

Visceral Cleanup Detail

Greetings, or whatever the piss people say now-a-days. I think this will be the real first article that will be posted on our little blog located somewhere in who-gives-a-crap. I find myself wracked with ideas on what I should make this post about, seeing as I do have a firm dislike for any post that can be summed up with 'FIRST!'. I also find that starting your blog with an FAQ is not only asking for trouble but puts on the impression that I assume people will read this.

Which I don't.

Things that I plan on posting whenever my creative burst happen involve game reviews, maybe bloody screen shots of the shit I'm making, and campaign development for whatever thing I am planning. If you're really lucky I'll even post about my day sometimes.

As for this one I'll be talking about

Visceral Cleanup Detail

Get ready to work

Alright, so in a lot of game you play a battle hardened protagonist who goes throughout the game slaughtering whatever enemy is in their wake. These enemies vary from people, to demons, to animals, either way the job is messy. Well in this game, you aren't that gung-ho killing machine, you're the poor guy who has to get the mop and bucket and clean up that guys mess.

"Every Tuesday!"
The game itself is one of those you're-doing-an-actual-job games so don't be to surprised when I say it can definitely get tedious at times. Now before I start the full process I am going to mention that I am playing the .15 alpha version of the game and that it isn't completed yet. When the full game comes out I'll release a review of it in it's completed state.

Now onto the reason that you guys are here. I'll be using the CRAPS system for review the system is as so.

Concept
Re-playability
gAmeplay
graPhics
Sound

Concept (2.5/5)
Oh I'd hate to be the guy who has to clean that up”
That's a line I've heard throughout my gaming experience and this game puts you in that guys position. I'm not going to sit here and say that the game if groundbreaking on any level, and although I find myself entranced with the game it's fairly clear that it is more of a proof of concept. Yes you can create a game where the character has to clean stuff, yes people will probably play it and like it. But that doesn't exactly entail that the concept itself is amazing.

Re-playability (5/5)
This is one of those games in my opinion that you can play and replay as many times as you'd like. I'm not saying that you'll get a different experience each time but it's definitely something that is just as fun to replay.

This is mostly due to the fact that it's like cleaning in that regard, it's strangely satisfying and addicting.

Gameplay (3.5/5)
The game is simple, you start off in a spawn point of the map with your mop, your dirt finder, and your hands. From that point you mop up blood wash your mop in a bucket, and collect all trash off of the floor. Everything you pick up and mop up will end up being incinerated. Normally this would seem boring but I found the game-play to be very satisfying with it capturing the effort that it takes to clean up large messes fairly well. (Though the mopping is much much easier) I cannot wait to see what they add into the game later in it's development.

With all of that being said, the game is still very raw and it filled with physics glitches galore. Don't expect anything too big out of this game yet until they've at least gotten into beta.

Graphics (2.5/5)
I personally find myself enjoying the graphics even if I hadn't given much thought into it. Don't expect some super amazing stuff it run off of the unreal engine, but at the same time it's still too early to give a true rating on the graphics. I'll wait until beta to give a more in detail review. For now we'll stick with “They're good enough”

Sound (2/5)
Enjoy your silent sound effects. It's still to early (at least for my version) for me to give a definitive rating on this. Though I did like the mop noises and clinking. There wasn't any disjointed noises either.

Overall Score: 218.75 craps given

I like it, it's very very raw and I cannot wait to see what this game becomes later on.
